Page builders - Elementor and the block editor
How Reign works with Elementor and with the native WordPress block editor.
Reign is built to get out of the way of whatever you use to design a page, whether that’s Elementor or the native block editor. Both work without any setup beyond installing the plugin, for Elementor, or just writing.
Elementor
Reign detects Elementor automatically and adjusts itself around it:
- Canvas template. When a page uses Elementor’s blank Canvas template, Reign removes its own header, footer and page title so Elementor’s layout is the entire page, edge to edge.
- Full Width template. Recognised separately, for pages that want Elementor’s own header/footer handling instead of Reign’s.
- Hide title. If you turn on “Hide Title” in Elementor’s own page settings, Reign honours it rather than showing its own page heading underneath.
- Container width. Reign reads Elementor’s container width and spacing settings and keeps its own CSS in step, so boxed sections line up with what you set in Elementor rather than falling back to the theme’s own default width.
- Product gallery support. When WooCommerce is also active, Reign adds WordPress’s zoom, lightbox and slider support for the product gallery so Elementor’s product widgets get the same gallery behavior as the default WooCommerce templates.
- Preview mode. Editing a page in Elementor gets its own body class, so a child theme or custom CSS can target the editor view separately from the live page if needed.
Reign’s Sub Header (the page-title band above your content) is left alone everywhere else Elementor is active - it only steps back for the Canvas template - so your Customizer setting for “Hide Sub Header” keeps working on ordinary pages built with Elementor.
The same compatibility layer that handles Elementor also recognises Beaver Builder, Divi, WPBakery (Visual Composer) and Thrive Architect, detecting which one built a given page and adjusting theme wrappers accordingly. This page focuses on Elementor because it’s the one most Reign customers run.
The block editor
Reign supports the native WordPress block editor as a first-class option, no plugin required. Out of the box it adds:
- Wide and full alignment for blocks (
align-wide), so a Cover or Media & Text block can break out of the content column. - The editor’s own styling loaded into the admin so what you see while writing matches the front end more closely.
- Responsive embeds, so a pasted YouTube or Twitter link scales correctly on every screen size.
- A
theme.jsonthat feeds Reign’s colour palette into the block editor’s colour picker, so the swatches you see when styling a block match the palette you chose in the Customizer, not a generic default set.
If you change your colour palette in Color Options > Color Palette, the block editor’s colour picker updates to match on its own - you don’t maintain the two separately.
Checking what is active
Reign Settings > Integrations lists Elementor alongside the other plugins Reign is ready for, and shows whether it’s currently detected on your site.
