Build a Dokan multi-vendor marketplace on WordPress

A marketplace where sellers get their own storefront inside a community site. If your sellers list services, WP Sell Services does it free. If they ship physical products, Dokan is the engine and the Reign Dokan Addon styles vendor stores and dashboards to match the theme.

The Reign theme is the only thing you have to buy. See every plugin that installs free, or have us install the whole stack for $699.

Stack recipe

What you need to assemble.

Buy the theme. Install our plugins free. The third-party engine and its Reign add-on are here for people already running that stack, not a second bill everyone pays.

Build it in 5 steps

From zero to live community.

01

Install Reign, the one purchase

Reign is $99 a year or $249 once for a single site. Everything else in this recipe is either free or a choice you make later.

02

Add the community engine, free

BuddyNext gives sellers and buyers profiles, an activity feed, groups, and messages at no cost, which is what makes a marketplace feel like a place rather than a catalog. Already on BuddyPress or BuddyBoss? Reign styles that stack, and the BuddyPress Community Bundle adds our Pro community plugins from $249 a year.

03

Selling services? Start free with WP Sell Services

WP Sell Services covers service listings, seller profiles, and order requests in the free version. Pro adds offers, milestones, commissions, and seller payouts from $69 a year. For coaching, freelance, agency, and local-service marketplaces this is the whole engine, and Reign styles it with no add-on in between.

04

Selling physical products? Use Dokan

Physical goods need shipping, tax, and inventory, so run WooCommerce plus Dokan and style it with the Reign Dokan Addon ($39 a year for one site). The add-on covers both the public store page and the vendor dashboard, so sellers work on Reign-branded surfaces rather than stock Dokan styling. Dokan Pro sells its own license.

05

Onboard vendors and set commission

Approve the first vendors by hand for a week so you learn which ones convert, then automate the form. Set commission before launch, not after: 15-20% is the usual range for a new marketplace. Dokan Pro splits payments through Stripe Connect or PayPal; WP Sell Services Pro handles commissions and payouts on the services side.

FAQ

Common questions.

Services or products, which engine?

WP Sell Services is ours, starts free, and fits marketplaces where people sell time and skill. Dokan is the right engine when sellers ship physical goods and need WooCommerce shipping, tax, and inventory. Reign styles both, so the decision is about what is being sold, not about the theme.

Which marketplace engine should I pick if I go third-party?

Dokan for the largest install base and the most polished vendor dashboard. WC Vendors when Dokan feels like overkill. WCFM for multi-currency and granular commission rules. Reign has a $39-a-year add-on for each.

What does this cost?

Reign at $99 a year or $249 lifetime, plus nothing if you run BuddyNext and WP Sell Services free. On the Dokan path, add the Reign Dokan Addon at $39 a year for one site plus your own Dokan license, or the StoreMate Dokan kit from $129 a year for the theme and add-on together.

Does Reign style the Dokan vendor dashboard?

Yes. The Reign Dokan Addon styles the public store page and the back-end vendor dashboard, so vendors see Reign surfaces rather than stock Dokan styling.

Vendor sub-domains?

Dokan supports vendor sub-domains through the Dokan Pro store URL setting, and Reign respects it. Vendor stores stay branded under sub.yourdomain.com if you configure it.

Ship it

Reign is the only thing you have to buy.

WP Sell Services and the rest of our plugins install free, and the theme styles them out of the box. Building on Dokan instead? The StoreMate Dokan kit ships the theme with the matching Reign add-on.
