What StoreMate Dokan actually is.
The Reign theme plus the Dokan add-on, $129 against $138 separately. Vendor dashboards, storefronts and product grids inherit the Reign design across a multi-vendor marketplace, rather than mixing Dokan defaults with your community. Dokan has a free core with paid tiers from its own authors, and it runs on WooCommerce.
Who it is for.
For multi-vendor marketplaces on Dokan, which is the most widely used option and the one with the largest vendor feature set. If what you are selling is services rather than products, WP Sell Services is ours and installs free. For physical goods with many sellers, Dokan plus this kit is the well-trodden path.
Installing it.
Install the theme, then the add-on, then the plugin the add-on is for, in that order. The add-on does nothing on its own; it is a styling layer that needs both sides present. Run the demo installer if you want the site to arrive looking like the demo rather than an empty WordPress. You also need WooCommerce and Dokan itself, both with free cores, plus a payment gateway configured before vendors can be paid. Budget an afternoon for the setup and another for the content.
What the licence covers.
The licence covers updates and support for its term, and you keep the software if you let it lapse; what stops is updates and support, which on a site taking money is not something to let slide. At $129 it covers the Reign theme and the Dokan add-on, against $138 separately. WooCommerce is free, Dokan has a free core, and Dokan Pro is a separate licence from its authors. Renewals are the usual annual cycle. Everything third-party named here is licensed separately by its own authors, which is worth budgeting for before you start rather than discovering at setup.
Questions before buying.
- Do I need WooCommerce too?
- Yes. Dokan is built on WooCommerce, so you install WooCommerce, then Dokan, then the theme and add-on. Reign ships dedicated WooCommerce styles as well, so the shop side is covered along with the vendor side.
- Dokan, WCFM or WC Vendors?
- All three do multi-vendor and Reign has a kit for each. Dokan has the largest ecosystem and the most polished vendor dashboard; WCFM is the most configurable; WC Vendors is the leanest. Try one with a real seller before committing, because the vendor experience decides adoption.
- Does the licence cover more than one site?
- Check the tier you are buying at checkout, since licences are sold per number of sites and the right tier depends on how many installs you run. Agencies building for clients should look at the higher tiers rather than buying a single-site licence repeatedly.
