What StoreMate WCFM actually is.
The Reign theme plus the WCFM add-on, $129 against $138 separately. Vendor storefronts, dashboards and multi-vendor checkout inherit the Reign design rather than WCFM's own styling. WCFM has a free core with paid add-ons from its own authors, and runs on WooCommerce.
Who it is for.
For marketplaces that need configurability: WCFM exposes more settings than the alternatives, which suits complex commission structures, vendor membership tiers and B2B-style arrangements. That flexibility is also its cost, since there is more to configure before launch. For a simple marketplace, one of the other kits is quicker.
Installing it.
Install the theme, then the add-on, then the plugin the add-on is for, in that order. The add-on does nothing on its own; it is a styling layer that needs both sides present. Run the demo installer if you want the site to arrive looking like the demo rather than an empty WordPress. WooCommerce and WCFM both install first, and WCFM in particular rewards going through its settings properly before you onboard sellers. Budget an afternoon for the setup and another for the content.
What the licence covers.
The licence covers updates and support for its term, and you keep the software if you let it lapse; what stops is updates and support, which on a site taking money is not something to let slide. At $129 it covers the Reign theme and the WCFM add-on, against $138 separately. WooCommerce is free and WCFM has a free core with paid add-ons from its authors. Renewals are the usual annual cycle. Everything third-party named here is licensed separately by its own authors, which is worth budgeting for before you start rather than discovering at setup.
Questions before buying.
- Why choose WCFM over Dokan?
- Configurability, mainly. WCFM exposes more control over commissions, vendor tiers and marketplace rules. Dokan is more polished out of the box with a larger ecosystem. If you have unusual commission requirements, WCFM is usually the one that can express them.
- Does it handle B2B marketplaces?
- Better than most, because its vendor and pricing controls are flexible enough for tiered and negotiated arrangements. You will still want a B2B pricing extension for buyer-specific rates, and account approval on registration.
- Does the licence cover more than one site?
- Check the tier you are buying at checkout, since licences are sold per number of sites and the right tier depends on how many installs you run. Agencies building for clients should look at the higher tiers rather than buying a single-site licence repeatedly.
