The pieces / Community engine
Reign + BuddyNext
BuddyNext is the engine underneath a community site: who the members are, what they post, which groups they join, how they message each other. Reign is the layer that decides how all of it looks. Both are built by the same team, so the pairing is not two products taped together.
Reign theme
BuddyNext The self-hosted community engine for WordPress BuddyNext installs free and inherits the theme's design. Pro is a separate decision you make later.
The line between the two is the same for every one of our plugins: the free version runs a real site, and Pro is for the point where that site starts earning.
One site, starting price. Compare every plugin free against Pro.
Reign styles BuddyNext out of the box. There is no bridge plugin, no compatibility add-on, and no CSS you have to write to stop the plugin pages looking like a different website. The same team builds the theme and the plugin, which is the whole reason it works this way.
In practice that means profiles, the activity feed, group pages, member directories, and messages inherit the Reign design system: the same type scale, the same spacing, the same colors you set once in the customizer.
This pairing usually shows up on member networks, private communities, and the social layer under a course site or a marketplace. Add the other pieces that site needs and skip the rest, because each plugin is separate and almost all of them install free.
BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform and PeepSo cover the same ground, and plenty of good communities run on them. We are not going to hide that.
Reign does not sell a styling add-on for BuddyPress, BuddyBoss Platform and PeepSo. What it sells is a theme whose design system already covers our own community engine plugin, so the pages you are building are styled the day you install BuddyNext rather than the day you finish styling them yourself.
The honest summary: either route can work. This one keeps the theme and the feature under one roof, which is mostly a support question. When something looks wrong, there is one team to ask. How buying works.
Another way in
Reign styles that stack too. Keep your engine and add our Pro community plugins in one license.
