How it works with Reign.
Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for Elementor, and does not need to: a page builder replaces the page template entirely, so the theme's job is to get out of the way and supply the header, footer and global styles. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. Reign provides a full-width, no-sidebar template for exactly this, which is what you select when building a page in Elementor. Community pages such as profiles and directories are rendered by the community plugin and are not Elementor pages, so build marketing pages in Elementor and leave the community templates to the theme.
When to use it.
Use Elementor when marketing pages need to be built and edited by people who do not write code, which is most teams. It is the most widely supported builder and the ecosystem around it is enormous. The trade is page weight, so keep it for the pages that need it rather than rebuilding your whole site in it.

Does Elementor slow pages down?
It adds what any plugin adds, and the honest way to find out is to measure your own site rather than trust a general claim. Elementor adds markup and its own CSS and JS, and a page built with many widgets is heavier than a template-rendered one. On a community site the heavy pages are almost always the dynamic ones, profiles, feeds and directories, so that is where to look first if the site feels slow.
