Reign + Yoast SEO. SEO integration.

Yoast SEO is the most-deployed WordPress SEO plugin. Meta tags, sitemap, schema, readability.

Reign plus Yoast gives your community content a chance of being found. Forum threads and member questions are ordinary WordPress content, so they can rank like any other page, and Yoast controls the titles, descriptions and schema that decide how they appear. Its more valuable job here is keeping the thousands of profile and archive URLs out of the index.

How it works with Reign.

Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for Yoast SEO, and does not need to: it outputs meta tags, schema and a sitemap, none of which are visible on the page. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. Reign does not interfere with any of it. The one thing worth knowing is that community plugins generate a great many archive and profile URLs, and most of those should not be indexed. Yoast can exclude them, and configuring that is more valuable for a community site than any on-page tweak.

When to use it.

Use Yoast if you know it, because familiarity is worth a lot in an SEO plugin and the differences are small. Rank Math is the main alternative and offers more in its free tier. There is no benefit to running both, and doing so produces duplicate meta tags, so pick one and remove the other properly.

4 steps to ship.

1

Install Yoast SEO (free).

2

Run the configuration wizard.

3

Set focus keyphrase on each landing page.

4

Submit sitemap_index.xml to Google Search Console.

What to check once it is live.

Open the live page source and confirm the title and description are what you intended, not the defaults. Check your sitemap for profile, group and archive URLs that should not be there. Run one page through a rich-results test, and confirm your community routes are excluded as configured.

Yoast SEO integration questions.

Yoast vs Rank Math?

Rank Math has more features in the free tier + lighter footprint. Yoast is more established + larger plugin ecosystem. Both work fine with Reign.

Does Reign conflict with Yoast?

No. Yoast outputs meta tags, schema and a sitemap, none of which the theme touches. The theme controls what visitors see; the SEO plugin controls what search engines read. They operate in different layers.

What should I configure first?

Indexation, not keywords. A community site generates large numbers of profile, group and archive URLs that should stay out of the index. Excluding them is the highest-value thing an SEO plugin does on this kind of site, and almost nobody does it first.

Is the premium version necessary?

For most community sites, no. The free version handles titles, descriptions, sitemaps and indexation control, which is the bulk of what matters. Premium adds redirect management and internal linking suggestions, useful but not essential. Rank Math gives some of that away free if the budget is the deciding factor.

Pick a bundled kit.

The Reign theme is $99/year or $249 lifetime and it is the only required purchase. Kits bundle it with the add-ons that style a third-party stack.
