Reign + ConvertKit. Email integration.

ConvertKit (now Kit) is the email platform creators + course operators favor for its automation flexibility.

Reign + ConvertKit pairs well for creators running courses + memberships - tagging + automations beat Mailchimp's rigid list model.

How it works with Reign.

Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for ConvertKit, and does not need to: it is a hosted email platform, so your site carries only a signup form. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. That form is rendered either by ConvertKit's embed or by a connecting plugin, and either way it inherits Reign's typography and button styling. ConvertKit's own embedded forms carry some of their own styling, so if you want an exact match, use a plugin-rendered form rather than the embed.

When to use it.

Use ConvertKit if you are a creator and its tagging and automation model suits how you work; it is built around that audience and it shows. For a community site where you want to segment by membership tier or course progress, FluentCRM running on your own site removes the integration layer entirely.

4 steps to ship.

1

Install ConvertKit official plugin.

2

Connect API key + default form.

3

Use ConvertKit Forms in BuddyPress signup flow.

4

Tag subscribers by signup source (newsletter / course / membership).

What to check once it is live.

Subscribe with a real address, confirm the tag or sequence fires, and check the confirmation email arrives. If you are using a plugin-rendered form, check it on a phone. Send one broadcast to yourself before you rely on the list, because a form that submits is not proof that sending works.

ConvertKit integration questions.

ConvertKit vs FluentCRM?

ConvertKit is hosted ($25-$166/mo), better at email deliverability. FluentCRM is self-hosted, cheaper long-term. Pick ConvertKit if email is the heart of your business.

Embed form or plugin form?

Use a plugin-rendered form if matching the theme matters, because it inherits Reign's input and button styles completely. ConvertKit's own embed carries some of its styling, which is convenient but will not match your site exactly.

Can I segment by membership level?

Only by syncing that data across, usually with a connector plugin, and syncs add lag and failure points. If segmenting by tier, course or activity is central to how you email people, a CRM running inside WordPress avoids the problem rather than managing it.

Is ConvertKit good for a membership site?

It is built for creators publishing to an audience, and it is good at that. For a membership site where you want to email by tier, course progress or activity, the tagging model can be made to work but it needs a sync. A CRM inside WordPress reads that data directly instead.

Pick a bundled kit.

The Reign theme is $99/year or $249 lifetime and it is the only required purchase. Kits bundle it with the add-ons that style a third-party stack.
