Reign + Mailchimp. Email integration.

Mailchimp is the most-deployed email marketing platform. Lists, automation, signup forms.

Reign + Mailchimp captures community signups + sends a welcome series. Native BuddyPress + Mailchimp sync via Mailchimp for WordPress (free).

How it works with Reign.

Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for Mailchimp, and does not need to: it is an email service, so the only thing on your site is a signup form and that inherits the theme's styling. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. The form is rendered by whichever plugin connects to Mailchimp, so that is what picks up Reign's input and button styles. The emails themselves are designed in Mailchimp and have nothing to do with the theme, which is worth stating because people expect otherwise.

When to use it.

Use Mailchimp when you want a well-known, well-documented email platform and your list is modest. It gets expensive as the list grows and it is less integrated with WordPress than the alternatives here, so if the audience is your members rather than a separate list, FluentCRM running on your own site is usually the better fit.

4 steps to ship.

1

Install Mailchimp for WordPress (free).

2

Connect your Mailchimp API key + pick the audience.

3

Add signup form to your community signup flow.

4

Build a 3-email welcome series in Mailchimp Customer Journey.

What to check once it is live.

Subscribe with a real address and confirm the contact appears in the right audience with the right tags. Check the double opt-in email arrives and that its link works. Then send yourself one campaign, because a signup form that works and a send that does not is a common and quiet failure.

Mailchimp integration questions.

BuddyPress signup sync to Mailchimp?

Yes via Mailchimp for WordPress + their BuddyPress add-on. Subscribers tagged with their member group.

Mailchimp vs FluentCRM?

Mailchimp is easier to start, more expensive at scale. FluentCRM is self-hosted, cheaper long-term, deeper WordPress integration. Most Reign sites past 5k members migrate to FluentCRM.

Does Reign style Mailchimp emails?

No, and no theme does. Emails are designed and sent by Mailchimp; the theme controls your website. The only thing Reign styles is the signup form on your site, which inherits the theme's input and button styling through whichever plugin renders it.

Mailchimp or FluentCRM?

Mailchimp for a familiar hosted platform and a modest list. FluentCRM when your audience is your members: it runs on your own site, so segmenting by course enrolment, membership tier or community activity is a query rather than an integration.

Does the free plan cover a small community?

For a modest list and simple sending, it does, with the usual limits on automation and contact count. The cost question arrives as the list grows, which is exactly when a community is working. Worth knowing the pricing curve before you build your process around it.

Pick a bundled kit.

The Reign theme is $99/year or $249 lifetime and it is the only required purchase. Kits bundle it with the add-ons that style a third-party stack.
