Cloudflare is the CDN + security layer in front of your WordPress site. Free tier covers most needs.
Reign plus Cloudflare puts a global CDN, DDoS protection and faster DNS in front of your community, most of it on the free tier. On a site with logged-in members the configuration matters as much as the service: cache the marketing pages and assets aggressively, and keep profiles, feeds and carts well away from the cache.
How it works with Reign.
Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for Cloudflare, and does not need to: it sits in front of your site at the network layer and never touches WordPress templates. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. The interaction worth understanding is caching. A community site has pages that must never be cached for logged-in members, such as profiles, feeds and carts, and aggressive page rules are the usual cause of members seeing each other's content. Exclude the dynamic routes and cache the rest.
When to use it.
Use Cloudflare on any site that matters: the free tier gives you a global CDN, DDoS protection and DNS that is faster than most registrars. On a community site configure it deliberately rather than turning everything on, because caching and a logged-in member area need to be told about each other.

What to check once it is live.
The critical test: log in as a member, load your profile, then open the same URL in a private window and confirm you do not see that member's content. A cached logged-in page is the worst failure on this list. Then verify your dynamic routes are excluded and that SSL mode is set correctly.

Free tier enough?
For most Reign sites yes. Pro ($20/mo) adds WAF + page rules. Enterprise only if you have specific compliance requirements.
Can I cache a community site?
Partly, and carefully. Cache the marketing pages, the blog and static assets. Never cache profiles, activity feeds, carts or account pages, because a cached logged-in page served to another member is the worst bug on this list. Exclude those routes explicitly.
Is the free plan enough?
For most community sites, yes. The CDN, DDoS protection and DNS on the free tier cover what matters. Paid plans add image optimisation, more page rules and WAF control, which are worth it once traffic or abuse justifies them.
Will Cloudflare break my member area?
Only if you cache it, and then badly. Exclude profiles, feeds, carts and account pages from caching explicitly, and test as a logged-in member in a private window before you trust it. Configured properly it is invisible to members and a large win for everyone else.
