Reign + WPML. Translation integration.

WPML is the most-deployed WordPress translation plugin. Multi-language sites, professional translation workflows.

Reign plus WPML runs your community in more than one language: posts, pages, products and the theme's own interface strings all translate, and members browse in whichever language they chose. The theme is translation-ready, so its labels follow your content rather than staying stubbornly in English while everything around them changes.

How it works with Reign.

Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for WPML, and does not need to: translation happens at the content layer rather than the template layer. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. Reign's own strings are translation-ready, so the theme's interface text translates along with your content. The work on a community site is usually the plugins: community, LMS and commerce plugins all carry their own strings, and each needs its translation files present for the site to be fully localised.

When to use it.

Use WPML when you genuinely need multiple languages and can commit to maintaining them, because a half-translated site is worse than a single-language one. For translating the theme and plugin interface into one language rather than running several, Loco Translate is lighter and free.

4 steps to ship.

1

Install WPML ($39-$199/yr).

2

Pick your primary + secondary languages.

3

Translate Reign theme strings via WPML String Translation.

4

Translate BuddyPress + add-on content via Translation Management.

What to check once it is live.

Check a translated page end to end in each language, including the menu, the footer and any community pages, because plugin strings are where a multilingual site comes apart. Confirm the language switcher works on a phone, and verify the correct hreflang tags are in the page source.

WPML integration questions.

WPML vs Polylang?

WPML has better commercial support + professional translation services. Polylang is free + lighter. For multi-lingual community sites past 1k members, WPML is the safer pick.

Is Reign translation-ready?

Yes. The theme's strings are prepared for translation, so its interface text is handled along with your content. Remember that your community and commerce plugins carry their own strings too, and each needs its own translation files.

WPML or Loco Translate?

WPML for running genuinely multilingual content with translated posts, pages and products. Loco Translate, which is free, for translating the interface into a single language. Many sites only need the second and buy the first by mistake.

Will my community plugin translate?

Its interface strings will, provided translation files exist for your language, which for mature plugins they usually do. Member-generated content does not translate: posts, replies and profiles stay in whatever language they were written. That surprises people, so decide early whether you want separate communities per language.

Pick a bundled kit.

The Reign theme is $99/year or $249 lifetime and it is the only required purchase. Kits bundle it with the add-ons that style a third-party stack.
