Reign + Restrict Content Pro. Membership integration.

Restrict Content Pro (RCP) is the developer-friendly membership plugin. Cleaner code, simpler architecture.

Reign plus Restrict Content Pro is the lean way to charge for access. Members register, pay and see what their level entitles them to, without the configuration surface of a larger membership platform. The community, courses and forum sit on the same install, so a paying member is one record across all of it rather than an account per system.

How it works with Reign.

Reign ships no plugin-specific styles for Restrict Content Pro, and does not need to: its registration, account and restriction screens are plain templates that inherit the theme. There is no override layer to maintain and nothing to break when either side updates. They pick up Reign's typography, colours and containers without special handling. The place to be deliberate is the account page: if your community plugin also provides a member dashboard, decide which one your members should land on before launch rather than leaving both live.

When to use it.

Use Restrict Content Pro when you want straightforward membership and content restriction without the weight of a larger platform. It is clean and it does its job. Paid Memberships Pro is worth considering instead if a designed membership area matters, since Reign ships dedicated styles for that one.

4 steps to ship.

1

Install Restrict Content Pro ($99-$399/yr).

2

Create subscription levels.

3

Use the BuddyPress add-on for group mapping.

4

Stripe + Discount Codes built in.

What to check once it is live.

Register as a member on a test account and confirm restricted content is genuinely restricted in a private window, not merely hidden from the menu. Cancel and verify access ends when it should. Check which dashboard the member lands on, because that is the decision most often left unmade.

Restrict Content Pro integration questions.

RCP vs MemberPress?

RCP has the cleaner API + simpler architecture. MemberPress has the polished admin UI + larger ecosystem. Developers prefer RCP, marketers prefer MemberPress.

Does Reign style RCP pages?

Not with a dedicated stylesheet. Its templates are plain and inherit the theme's typography and layout, which is usually sufficient. If you want a membership area designed at template level, Paid Memberships Pro is the one Reign styles directly.

Which dashboard do members use?

Decide before launch. RCP provides an account page and your community plugin probably provides a profile, and members landing on the wrong one is the most common confusion on a membership community. Pick one, point the menus at it, and hide the other.

How does this compare to MemberPress?

RCP is leaner and simpler, MemberPress has more tooling and more documentation, and PMPro is the one Reign styles directly. All three gate content and take payments. For a community the deciding factor is usually which member dashboard you want and how much complexity you are willing to configure.

Pick a bundled kit.

The Reign theme is $99/year or $249 lifetime and it is the only required purchase. Kits bundle it with the add-ons that style a third-party stack.
