Running a community

Self-hosted

A self-hosted platform runs on a server you control, so you own the site, its data and its members' details.

Also called: own your platform, self-hosting

Self-hosting means no one else can change terms, raise fees or shut you down. It also means you are responsible for hosting and updates.

Look for what it costs to run, how backups work and who can help when something breaks.
