What Reign Demo installer actually is.
A free tool that imports a complete Reign demo into a fresh install: pages, menus, widgets, plugin settings and sample content, so the site arrives looking like the demo instead of an empty WordPress. Setting that up by hand is several hours of clicking, and most of it is configuration you would only get right by copying the demo anyway.
Who it is for.
For anyone starting a new Reign site, particularly if you are not sure what the finished structure should look like. Import a demo, see how the pieces fit, then replace the content with your own. Do not run it on a site that already has content, because that is not what it is for.
Installing it.
Install the theme and the demo installer on a FRESH site, pick a demo, and let it run. It imports pages, menus, widgets and settings, and prompts for any plugins that demo needs. Never run it on an existing site: it is designed to populate an empty install and will make a mess of one that already has content. If you want to try it against a live site, clone to staging first.
What the licence covers.
This one is free, with no licence key and nothing to renew. It is a tool rather than a product, and it exists because the gap between installing Reign and having something that looks like the demo was hours of configuration that helped nobody. You still need the Reign theme licence, and any plugins a given demo uses are installed separately.
Questions before buying.
- Is it really free?
- Yes, no licence needed. It exists to save the hours of configuration between installing the theme and having something that looks like the demo, which is friction nobody benefits from.
- Can I run it on an existing site?
- Do not. It imports pages, menus and settings and will collide with whatever is already there. Clone to staging if you want to see a demo against your setup, then rebuild on production by hand.
- Do I need a licence for this?
- No. The demo installer is free with no key to enter. You do need a Reign theme licence, since the installer only imports demos for a theme you are entitled to run.
- Which demos can I import?
- The demos available for the Reign licence you hold, covering the main site shapes: community, LMS, marketplace, directory and job board. Each one pulls in the pages, menus and settings for that shape, and prompts you to install whichever plugins it depends on. Pick the one closest to what you are building and replace the content afterwards; it is a starting point rather than a finished site.
